On July 19, 2026, RAFT for America will head out on the Arkansas River with Kodi Rafting in Buena Vista, Colorado. The breathtaking terrain makes this an ideal setting to explore one of the most consequential issues facing the country: Trusted News and Information. This gathering will bring together community members and leaders from across the political spectrum for conversations about trust in our media, our elections, and in science. These issues have been shaped by polarization, fragmented information ecosystems, and competing narratives that often obscure a shared sense of reality. Participants will explore questions such as whether mainstream media informs the public or misleads it, how scientific institutions can regain or maintain public trust, and how confident Americans feel in the administration of U.S. elections. These conversations, held both riverside and on the water, will challenge assumptions, surface shared concerns, and reveal how trust, and mistrust, in information shapes communities and civic participation.
Team Democracy has engaged award-winning filmmaker, Kristi Kendall, to produce a video from the event that will be shared widely across the community, and across social and traditional media outlets.
